The Academy faced a long trip to Norwich to face one of the strongest sides in the ECFA league.
With a changed line up for BHCA there was a positive start in good conditions and the away side looked like going in at half time level.
A silly free kick saw Easton score the opening goal and the advantage into half time.
The team talk and confidence at half time was positive and the second half started the same as the first 45 minutes.
With eleven men BHCA were always in the game but a red card for right back Joe Wright completely changed the influence on the game and Easton went on to punish BHCA.
With the referee now losing control on the game BHCA had Ryan Goodband, Mitch Harb, and skipper Tom Walpole also in the book with yellow cards.
At one point the game came to a halt after BHCA had Walpole injured from what seamed to be an elbow from Easton’s number nine, the home sides forward then decided to argue with his coach and should have been booked from this incident, but the player was still lucky to be on the pitch as he seamed to head but Goodband but neither the linesman or referee saw the incident!
With several Easton players allowed two to three chances before being booked BHCA can feel aggrieved when receiving cards at the first time when challenging players.
With BHCA down to ten men Easton went on to score four more goals but Goal keeper Dan Sneath also saved a good penalty.
Academy manager Ben Watts was pleased with his side’s efforts “The side can be very pleased with the effort they have shown today and we were always in the game with eleven men. We just need to learn not to get involved if a side gets at you. Joe admitted he did kick out at he opposition player and he will learn from his mistakes”
Meanwhile one thing that did not please Watts was the dismal performance of the referee “He started well because he set the tone by talking to a couple of Easton’s players, there number six received the first yellow card but still carried on to talk to the official and go in late on our players. We received cards at the first time of asking and although the red card seamed justified they should have had there striker sent off for a blatant head but”
All of the Academy staff feel that there players were on the wrong end of the decisions Assistant coach Dan Bale tried to speak to the referee but there was no explanation “ After the game we went to speak to him but he was not interested and he then went on to criticise us as a team”
Ben Watts did confirm that an official complaint will go into the ECFA over the official’s performance.
Man of the match went to Yang Duo for the second game running and good performances came from Tom Walpole, Georgi Hristov and keeper Dan Sneath.
